This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps taken by Acton Man and Van to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our business or in any of our supply chains.

Our Business and Supply Chains

Acton Man and Van provides local and regional transport, removal, and associated services. Our operations involve vehicle procurement and maintenance, fuel purchasing, packaging materials, storage, and the engagement of subcontracted labour and service providers where appropriate. We recognise that elements of the logistics and transport sector, including the use of agency labour and subcontractors, can be at higher risk of labour exploitation. We therefore treat modern slavery risks as a core compliance issue and manage them with the same seriousness as health and safety and data protection.

Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery

We operate a clear and unequivocal zero-tolerance stance on all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, child labour, debt bondage, and human trafficking. This applies to all persons working for or on behalf of Acton Man and Van at every level, including employees, contractors, agency workers, and suppliers. Any breach or suspected breach of this policy is treated as a serious misconduct matter, which may result in termination of employment, cancellation of contracts, and reporting to appropriate authorities where necessary.

Supplier Due Diligence and Audits

We expect the same high standards from all of our suppliers and service partners. As part of our supplier due diligence process, we seek to engage only with organisations that share our commitment to preventing modern slavery. Our approach includes requesting information on labour practices, requesting confirmation of compliance with relevant legislation, and reserving the right to undertake audits or inspections where appropriate. For higher-risk categories such as labour providers, vehicle services, and warehousing, we may apply enhanced checks, including verification of right-to-work procedures, working conditions, and pay practices. Where concerns arise, we will work with the supplier to agree an action plan. If issues are not resolved within a reasonable timeframe, we may suspend or terminate the relationship.

Training, Awareness, and Responsibilities

Responsibility for our modern slavery commitments rests with senior management, who oversee the development and implementation of relevant policies and procedures. Managers involved in procurement, recruitment, and subcontracting receive guidance on identifying indicators of modern slavery and on how to escalate concerns. We promote awareness among staff so that all colleagues understand what modern slavery is, the warning signs to look for, and how to respond safely and appropriately. Everyone working for Acton Man and Van is expected to read and comply with our policies on modern slavery, equal opportunities, and ethical conduct.

Reporting Concerns and Safe Channels

Acton Man and Van encourages anyone with concerns about potential modern slavery or exploitation connected to our business to speak up without fear of retaliation. Concerns can be raised with a line manager, a senior manager, or via internal reporting routes specified in our internal policies. Reports may be made anonymously where this is permitted, and all reports will be treated seriously and handled sensitively. We will investigate any allegations promptly, take appropriate corrective action, and cooperate with law enforcement or regulatory bodies where required.

Continuous Improvement and Annual Review

We are committed to continually improving our approach to identifying, addressing, and preventing modern slavery.
